nyMusikk Bergen is proud to present Alwynne Pritchard´s work Hospice Lazy, together with Alpaca Trio. This is one of this year´s larger productions, and we are excited to explore Pritchard and Alpaca Trio´s universe at Verftet this January.
Introduction to Hospice Lazy:
To work hard is good. To be lazy is bad. Morally, spiritually and socially. It is a dead weight to be jettisoned in our march towards the future. Or could it somehow bail us out? Marcel Duchamp proposed creating a ‘hospice des paresseux’. A place where lazy people could take refuge. With this in mind, Alwynne Pritchard’s “Hospice Lazy” explores the subversive powers and pleasures of laziness and inertia through music, text, movement and specially constructed machines designed in collaboration with Vigdis Haugtrø and the Trøndelag Orthopaedic Workshop.

“…playful, sinister and altogether riveting.”
– The Telegraph
Alpaca Ensemble derives from the piano trio Alpaca Trio, a versatile chamber group frequently collaborating with other musicians, artists and composers. They initiate innovative projects crossing and questioning boundaries between established genres, and have had numerous works written for them.
